This is our adult learn to sail course, recommended for ages 16 and up.
(For 15 years and under we recommend our Junior Start Sailing 1 course.)
Let our qualified and experienced instructors introduce you to the joy and skills of sailing. We have a fleet of Pacer class dinghies, these are perfect for beginners as they are stable, comfortable, and have good performance.
Christies Sailing Club is located on a beautiful stretch of coastline at Christies Beach Esplanade. We are a family friendly club with a thriving junior and adult membership, we are not just somewhere to learn to sail but a place to make friends and continue your sailing journey.
We provide the instructors, the boats, and the safety equipment, you just need to dress appropriately (advice will be given as part of the course) and have fun!
This course comprises of a Friday evening theory session and two consecutive Sunday full day practical sessions.
The cost of this course is $250 and includes an associate club membership for participants. Participant numbers are strictly limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Registration closes at midnight on 14th March.

Course Overview
This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
